PCO Pixelfly (Safire)

Safire now supports the advanced Pixelfly USB camera by pco.

Due to its high sensitivity, low noise and special modes of operation that are available within Safire, this camera is the ideal tool for the most demanding RHEED applications.

The standard resolution of 1392 x 1040 pixels (1.4 MP) offers a wide field of view with high spatial resolution to cover large and detailed diffraction patterns.

For higher temporal resolution, only the central 800 x 600 pixels may be recorded at a correspondingly higher frame rate. Together with binning, the frame rate reaches up to 62 Hz in this mode.

The dynamic range of this camera is extraordinary: with 2 667 : 1 (68 dB) and 4000 : 1 (72 dB, binning), it covers a solid 14 bits, or three and a half orders of magnitude. Combined with a low readout noise of 6 electrons per pixel and a selectable quiet readout mode, this results in crisp, clean data with exceptional S/N ratio.

And with 4W power consumption and our optimized passive cooling camera mount, the camera keeps cool to deliver these specs every day, for years to come.
